DESCRIPTION
Incredibly rare 24k gold plated 1:60 scale Shenzhou-8 spaceship model presented by the China Academy of Space Technology. The Shenzhou 8 spacecraft launched on September 29, 2011, and automatically docked with the Tiangong-1 space module on 3 November 2011 and again on 14 November 2011. This spacecraft was China's first uncrewed docking and led the way to the first Chinese crewed docking in 2012 with the crewed Shenzhou 9 mission.
This official model is die-cast in zinc alloy and plated in 24k gold. Includes original box, bag, paperwork, and pins.

Authenticity Information:
The model was originally presented to Dr. Christine Julie Twigg, External Relations Project Manager in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Manchester, in recognition of her joint work with the China Academy of Space Technology. The University of Manchester, which also incorporates Jodrell Bank and Manchester Astronomical Society observatories, launched a partnership with the China Academy of Space Technology and created a new joint lab that focused on advanced control systems.
Includes all original documentation, box, bag, and pins.
Condition Report:
Minor patina on the gold due to wear having been proudly displayed on Dr. Twigg's desk until her departure from the University of Manchester. Otherwise in fine condition.
