This Mercury Program Patch measures 3 inches in diameter and was produced by NASA's official patch manufacturer, AB Emblem. The Mercury Program was NASA's first manned spaceflight project, and was responsible for launching the Mercury 7 aboard their respective Mercury capsules. The Mercury 7 astronauts were Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, Wally Schirra, Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper and Deke Slayton, although Slayton never flew on Project Mercury.
