This amazing Mercury Freedom 7 Patch measures 3 inches in diameter and was produced by NASA's official patch manufacturer, AB Emblem. Freedom 7 was flown by Astronaut Alan Shepard, one of the original Mercury 7. The Mercury-Redstone 3, otherwise known as Freedom 7, was the first human spaceflight of Project Mercury. The primary objective of the flight was to send a man into orbit and then return him safely to Earth. The mission lasted a total of 15 minutes and reached an altitude of 187.5 kilometres.
