This official Apollo 13 Patch is 4 inches in diameter and was manufactured by AB Emblem. Apollo 13 was the 7th manned launch of the program and was suppose to be the the third manned lunar landing, but an oxygen tank explosion caused the cancellation of the landing. The explosion crippled the Command Service Module on which the CM depending, and despite dire circumstances for the crew such as limited power, loss of cabin heat and a shortage of water the crew returned safely to Earth on April 17. The crew consisted of Commander Jim Lovell, Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise and Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert.
