GEMINI 4 FLOWN SILVER
Incredibly rare and limited piece of sterling silver flown aboard the Gemini 4 mission by astronaut Jim McDivitt.
In June 1965, history was made when astronaut Ed White became the first American astronaut to conduct a spacewalk during the Gemini IV mission. While outside the Gemini capsule, White used the Hand-Held Self-Maneuvering Unit (HHSMU), informally known as the Zap Gun, to maneuver. As White maneuvered around the spacecraft's exterior, his fellow astronaut and crew mate, Jim McDivtt, took photographs of the famous spacewalk, which were published worldwide. Interestingly, the photographs showed Ed White wearing an Omega Speedmaster chronograph watch on his spacesuit sleeve—something that Omega was unaware of until the photographs were published. The Omega Speedmaster went on to become the official NASA watch used by astronauts during missions.

The triangle piece of sterling silver came directly from the collection of Gemini 4 Command Pilot Jim McDivitt. The sterling silver, originally in plate form, was melted down and cast into exquisitely detailed pins, with the remaining silver being divided into triangles, as presented here.
