This incredible piece of spaceflight history is one of our limited edition runs as part of our exclusive "Space Collector Series". This limited edition booster pack contains a fragment (approx. 2-3mm) of genuine Mercury "Big Joe 1" flown material. This edition is limited to 132 pieces, no more will be produced.

Big Joe 1 was an unmanned boilerplate Mercury capsule that launched aboard an Atlas 10-D rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida on September 9, 1959. The primary objective of the Big Joe program was to test the Mercury capsule ablating heatshield to ensure its suitability for re-entry into the atmosphere. Big Joe 1 was also the first launch of a spacecraft in Project Mercury.

Also included in this booster pack is a collectible authenticity & information card, as well as an acrylic display disc to hold your historic piece of space flown memorabilia.
