DESCRIPTION
This artifact presentation contains a genuine piece of Apollo 11 flown Command Module "Columbia" kapton foil. The spacecraft which carried Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the Moon was known as the ''Command Module'', and bore the symbolic name Columbia. To protect the fragile craft from the extreme environment of deep space, 12 thin layers of material know as Kapton Foil, silver-coloured on the front with a gold backing, was attached to the outside skin of the Columbia. Because the foil was attached to the outside skin of the Columbia, the silver-coloured side was directly exposed to deep space.
Product Information:

- Attached to an 8"x10" Apollo 11 mission photograph of Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface
